Vinos de Potrero Malbec
Region: Mendoza, Argentina
Vinos de Potrero is infused with the theme of football. One of the winery’s founders is former Argentine international Nicolás Burdisso. A “Potrero” is a rough, make-shift football pitch, which Argentines believe is the best place to learn to play the game. Following the idea that the harder the struggle, the sweeter the victory, the vines of Vinos de Potrero must endure hot, dry days and cold nights at a height of 1,350 metres above sea level to yield fruit that makes exceptional wine. James Suckling, Tim Atkin and Wine Advocate all agree, repeatedly scoring the Vinos de Potreros range above 90 points. This great expression of Malbec combines fruit purity with floral and mineral notes from the terroir. A wine which although fresh and easy to drink is also honest and complex. A difficult vintage which in the end rendered outstanding results due to the unexpected lower yield.
