Karrawatta Dairy Block Shiraz
The Gilbert family made their first wine in 1847 and have continued growing wine grapes ever since. Australia’s premiere wine critic James Halliday recognised Karrawatta as a five-star winery in his 2018 Australian Wine Companion, which acknowledges “outstanding wineries producing wines of very high quality”. Low-yielding Shiraz vines were selected for this vintage of the Dairy Block. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 18 months in 30% new and 70% old French oak barrels. This is a medium-bodied cool climate shiraz with concentrated white pepper spice, plum and cherries, cedar oak and soft tannins.
